Plans

Booked some travel yesterday.

[MH = Malaysia Airlines; CX = Cathay Pacific Airlines; KL = KUL = KLIA =  Kuala Lumpur; HKG = HKIA = Hong Kong; MYY = Miri; L52 is an airport within 3 miles of home Oceano Airport. ]

Based on the apartment being available on 15MAY25, here's the plan:

Tuesday 15APR25 depart Miri at 0800 to KL via MH (not Firefly)*.
Transfer to CX, connect in HKG, onward to SFO.
Arrive SFO at 1730 local (Still 15APR25)

Then 3 weeks of misery and mess.  Clean, pack, distribute, etc.

Monday 12MAY25 depart SFO on CX.
Transfer at HKG
Wednesday 14MAY25 KL 1245 local

Connection onward to MYY is TBD.  But I'll plan that soon too.

It looks like this.  Would anyone care for a brief exposition on why the shortest ways are usually arcs and not straight lines?  If you want one without my added commentary: The Rhumb is Dumb  (ok, the title is my commentary...)

Just like the MH FlyPass for intraBorneo (Zone 1), I bought 6 pre-paid legs between Borneo and West Malaysia (Zone 2).  $400 for 6 legs (plus the inevitable $5 airport fee).  The flexibility on these is amazing.

And, as of right now, I am certain this one will be screwy too.  They show my ticket as issued.  But they did not decrement the flight count.  Not only that, none of my bank accounts show a debit for the pass yet.  This one will be easier to fix as the MYY-KUL flight will be all MH not Firefly.  It should be in a single system.  I'll be honest a few times again.  If they cannot fix it, I'll fly free.

15MAY25 is supposed to be move-in day.

But it's Malaysia.  It's an island in Malaysia.  It's gonna move at its own pace. I expect to have some hiccups, delays, foul-ups, screwball things, SNAFUs, etc. along the way.  They happen.  What I've learned is that people here still care about fixing things that are in their control.  It's kinda old fashioned...and VERY nice.

Move I Day + 1 will start a recovery period of some length most likely.  A month of exhaustion will follow.  That's fine.  I know where to eat already.  They're all short walks and many are "Buka 24 Jom."

Time to start studying Bahasa with some intent.
