Best Kolo Mee Yet in Miri

Run down.
Instant-up combined with corrugated tin.
Corner of a car shop parking lot (complete with noises and distillate smells)
Not an uncracked of level place to sit a chair.

AMAZING kolo mee

It all started with a second glance: Is that thing serving food?  Yes, yes it is.
Me: Ada kolo Mee?
Auntie: Yes
Me: Kolo Mee sila

And, thus began the magic

Yes, Really

Looked for a table.  a 6 top in the sun is bad (I'm very white, but more importantly planning on dining alone) or a four top in the shade.  (These tops are card tables.)  Settled in, moved a bunch of rocks to get the seat almost stable.

Added Teh-O (sweet hot tea) as my drink - recognizing the request, in Bahasa!

Noticed 2 older gents looking at that 6 top with dismay - the sun is cooking today.  Moved my stuff from the table (hat, towel, backpack) and waved them over.  They decided the mat salleh was surely less dangerous than the sun.  So, over they came.

Their English was limited.  It did not matter.  We all understood I'm from California and have an SMM2H and a bit more.

When their drinks came, one guy pulled out a RM50 bill.  Auntie was looking at him like: Really, a 50...c'mon man.  Then we circled his fingers, indicating he was buying for the table.  His buddy and me.  I know enough not to fight.  "Terima Kasih, Uncle" with a heart tap.  All that was needed and probably more than expected (really, I do stand out as obviously different here in so many attributes.)

That's a very generous serving of ground pork.
It's not complicated.  It's not complex in flavor or structure.
It's just so damn good.  Especially the last bites

I will return tomorrow and try a new dish.  And a table of strangers will eat for free.  This whole scene also played out in Kuantan in May last year.  That was a 100% Muslim Malaysian event.  This was 100% Chinese Malaysian.  I see the connection - Malaysians.

Does that make my love of Miri, Kuching, Sarawak, Borneo, and Malaysia easier to grasp?

Really, it's as simple as the story and the food sound.  Yet as complex and wonderful too.

It ain't for all y'all; it is for me.

Oh, BTW,  I'm pretty sure the change from the 50 was in excess of RM25.  3 meals with drinks. Less than $6.
