Back in Cat City
Monday is Visa Endorsement day - when the rubber stamp meets the paper. Hopefully with enough ink on it.
And, now having looked, I know that today is Thursday the 3rd. Not that such things really matter, to me.
All of you (ain't nobody reading me without knowing me - I know that!) should recall that I am an economist. That was my job title for all of 3 months at Illinois Bell in 1991 ("Regulatory Economist"). It is also how I have described myself since 1986. BA ('86), MA ('89), MS ('91) all in Econ. Why? Because Econ is the best 'paradaigm' and framework to label how I understand the world. No, not Finance, Economics.
Econ is the study of how scarce resources are allocated and why. It is not how money gets made. It is understanding how value is created. How utility is maximized under constraints. It can be math. It can be words. It is always thoughts. It is aligned with my thinking process. The details of all it are all fading. But I can say this with great confidence.
It is gonna get very ugly, very fast, everywhere. People will be hurt for the sake of hurting them. This tariff shit is just downright Mutually Assured Depression. Protect yourselves however you can.
OK, that bit of unhappiness out of the way...
Earlier this week I read the latest Lucas Davenport / Virgil Flowers story. There was a lot of potential in it. But it was deeply flawed. Sandford needs to slow down. I hate to say this but it is time to write off Lucas/Virgil focus on Letty. Let Lucas retire, Virgil write, and Letty can just be the bad ass she is naturally (and Economist too.)
So, I'm back to a new McGee. Up to Indigo. McDonald was amazing. And, very prescient. His emotional call outs can be laser sharp.
What else....FOOD!
Not that I have them often, but this was really good.
