Quick Notes & Thoughts from a Good Day
Random notions from today.
Early morning is wonderful. Mid day is hot. (Oddly, the dew points are in the very high 20s...and, I just realized I have my phone set to Celsius...duh. 30C is 86F. That's a nasty dewpoint.) Sunset is amazing.

I turned a corner and there it was. Tomorrow I'm going to find a better setting hopefully. Weather permitting. It could rain. This trip is working out as I had hoped. The adjustment is easier. I lost 2 kilos in transit. Since then not enough that I worry. Hydration has been good, f course. (I meant to leave my 36oz. Yeti in California. Glad I didn't.)
No valium today. No thoughts of it. I'm "streets ahead" (IYKYK) of where I was on the previous visits.
Biggest change? Restraint. Staying out of the sun from 1000 to 1600 in general (except to get lunch, 0.2mi. limit to searches for lunch today.)
If I'm smart I'll do my posting between 1000 and 1600 MST. No, Michael, not Mountain Standard Time, A good way to avoid the heat. But, am I smart?
Diacritics are really important. Spanish is not linguistically related to Bahasa to my knowledge. To a Spanish speaker, this is not a hotel you'd willingly explore.
For want a tilde,...

Ovary or Prostate Massage for about $100.
(Center column, bottom entries. Sorry for the fuzziness, I was laughing.)
Not my beer...
Cats : Dogs now at 3:2 and Cats Running From Owners: Like Situated Dogs at 1:2. To whistle at as dashing cat is a waste of breath. It's a cat. Ollie,I'm looking for confirmation when you get a chance, thanks.
Interestingly none of the cats have been the famous Orens (or Oyens) that are beloved nationally here. (The tiger connotation rings loudly here. That majestic beast is one of the national icons.)
Google really sucks. I wanted pork Satay so it sent me to a halal place.
That is getting ridiculous. Not the AI. Google maps.
Still, tasty.

The majority of the island is Indonesian. Everything south of that "border" is not shown.
The nation of Brunei is included on the map. Unlike Indonesia, they did not wage a border war in the '60s...
Indonesia and Malaysia have been much better partners since.

To the north of Brunei is the Malaysian state of Sabah. Natural 'rivals states.'
Western or Peninsular Malaysia is (undoubtedly deliberately) not to scale.
Sarawak is the largest state; Malaysia's total land mass is about that of NM.

For those wondering, Malaysia is 12 hours from EST. So flip day and night and then include your delta to NYC. Do not ask me about WIB... If you like "Zulu" (GMT or UTC), this is "Uniform" (UTC+8)
I'm gonna try a Ramadan fast (but stay hydrated) at some point. I just need to explore the city more to find the fast ending bazaars. Solely because they seem joyous gatherings.
I learned that one politely wishes the observant a "Ramadan Kareem." A 'generous Ramadan.' That was as a result of seeing meals served to 2 other passengers before the flight to MYY took off, to beat the dawn. That's a kindness I think is warranted. I certainly did not mind waiting a few minutes at the gate so they did not have to wait 12 hours for a meal.
There are Muslim bartenders...huh?

I used the phase again and got a big smile. Being nice to people really is easy.
That's reason enough for me to continue.
BTW "Hari Raya" seems to be a general "Happy Holiday" phrase. They were hanging Hari Raya themed decor (Ramadan was already in place.) I said Hari Raya to the non-Muslims (attire is a give away) and Ramadan to the Muslim staff.
All smiles in return. Give a little, get a lot.
3 cats & 2 dogs.
Definitely not in Kuching.
