Blah, Blah, Blah...

I suspect that will be the gist of this one...

I last wrote on Thursday, today is Tuesday.  What has happened since?  Honestly, not much.

Let's just do the lazy thing where I pull up a few pics I took to refresh my failing memory.  Surely you're on to the that lil' ruse by now and it does not seem to offend.

Some translations lack the nuance in the 2nd language.
I think Bahasa will be fun for this reason.
E.g., the high point on the Kuching Waterfront is Bukit Mata.
"Eye Hill"  Literally.
But, c'mon, it's surely more akin to 'Lookout Hill.'*

If you think, and take lots of pics, sometimes you get the one you want.

Sometimes you don't have to think.

Adding some humans changes the feeling too.

No, that's not my buddy the post over on the left.
My guy is an upright dude, like me.

Something here that I have continually failed to capture.  I'll keep trying.

Grilled pork belly.  Good.
But anglo oriented bars that serve food just ain't what I like.
Upselling me booze is distasteful (a litre of 50% hooch for RM145 to get 50% of the food.)
A litre for 1 pax...NO! Not cool.

I need a bigger lens,

Most of my days have been simple and satisfying.

Wake up, realize I'm missing an LA Kings game.  Check the score.
Head out for breakfast - really loving the Roti Cenai.  Amazing.

You cannot grasp how simple but good this is.
I sure didn't.

Then walk somewhere just to walk.  Maybe a run to buy Q-Tips or toothpaste.  Maybe just to get a sunburned throat and nape.  Maybe to get my hair shorn (#1/2 on the temples & nape,  #1 elsewhere - each full comb 'value' is 3mm or ~1/8th" - going short.)**

Sit by the rooftop pool to enjoy the breeze.  Clothed and wearing a hat.  THe sun is not kidding around here.

Then take a nap.
And, not write.

Then wake up and walk.
Sunset tropes taken.
Eat dinner.

Last night was Korean BBQ.  Most expensive meal I have had in Malaysia.  RM140.  Good meat.  But the sides were lacking.  What kind of Korean joint does not have sliced pickled daikon?  "Daikon" did not flash.  "Mooli" either.  White radish, out; Pink radish, gone; green radish, no.  Oh, we have red radish.  Chunks.  Good.  Still.  The staff vibe was off.  In-spite of numerous uses of "gamsa hameda" and "terima kasih."

Previous nights were nasi goreng (meh and white boy pricing - no return.) Kolo Mee some eves.  Looking to expand the "Safe Set of Satisfiers" soon.

Not write, yet again.
Take a 17th shower of the day. (I sweat a lot....a whole lot.)
Go to bed.

Last night included raging quietly at the noisy mother fuckers next door.  Miscreants of all ages.  This AM when I was shaving the young ones leaned on their doorbell.  I lost my shit....Open the door, poked my very white shoulders and head out the door and bellowed: WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!!   That seemed to work.

That was after hollering as late as 0100 and being awoken at 0730.  I'm cranky today.

I was not alone in my complaints.  The desk had heard from many of us.  They checked out.

*The battle between the Sarawakians and Bruneians that the Brookes family played in was surely bloody.
But, not as bad as Chickamauga and the Battle of "Lookout Mountain" in the Civil War.  Chickamauga is so damn big and has so damn many monuments.  Brutal.  For me it strikes harder than Gettysburg.  Yes, including the orchard.

** Remember kids, the DEFINITION of 1 US Inch is exactly 2.540mm.  Yes, the Inch is defined metrically.  Just accept it and move on.
