Last of the Logistics

Getting the dry stuff wrapped up as it's boring me as much as it does you.

A long week before leaving.  The autism fun kicks in.  Increased anxiety, executive function failure, general flailing.  It kinda sucked.  The excitement and anticipation was great - everything else not.

Sunday 01Sep24

Packed and made my way to San Jose.

Food for the day: 2 bananas at home an the Brooks Burgers in SLO.  A pretty good bacon & blue.

Sleep: Ambien, thank God.

Monday 02Sep24

Dan drove me to SFO.

Food: Scrambled eggs and sausage in SFO Next to nothing in flight (JAL catering really sucks.  And, chicken bulgogi?  Bulgogi is both beef and Korean.  Nobody makes their rivals' food well  Horrible.)

Sleep: None

{dateline in air}

Tuesday 03Sep24

Landed in Tokyo at Haneda Airport.  Downtown, on Tokyo Bay, a wonderful airport,
Took the bus to Narita Airport.  The hinterlands (hello Denver!), the shittiest Asian airport I have been in.  Awful.*

Food: None that I recall.  (This is an trend, and a bad one.)

Sleep: a bit  at the Hotel Nikko Narita - the finest in 1978's designs and "colorways." (C'mon folks, they're "colors!")

Dinner, yes, really.

OK, that's not just pre-1978, it's timeless and elegant.

Wednesday 04Ssep24

Malaysia is an Muslim nation.

This may help with time zones if you want to wake me in the middle of the night with a call.

Shuttle back to NRT. And more fun with JAL (Japan Airlines) for JAK (my initials) at NRT (Hell's Airport code.  Aircraft change.  Language problem.  I almost lost my lid because the JAL contractors could not explain that the extra legroom seat I had paid for was the seat type I was getting.  Not a good show of anything except minimal restraint and extra efforts to be polite.  Purely a language issue, and one that was ultimately without consequence.  Not my best self; but JAL was definitely not its own either.  I'm done with them after this trip.

And, NRT is cool but as humid as the bayous of LA.  (No my friends, not L.A.)  I hate both.

NRT-KUL was on MH (Malaysia Airlines).  They are a smart firm.  It seems they have dropped trans-pac and European flights.  Savvy since big money will fly via Singapore.  The service and food utterly shames AA and JAL.  Landed at KUL/KLIA in KL in the late afternoon.

Food: Chicken Curry - a good one

That's a good place top leave off for a bit.  We'll start getting more into travel and less into logistics on the next page.

Fair warning: Moist, Humid, Muggy and of course HOT climactic conditions will continue.  Persistent but good natured whinging will follow as a result.  The bitching will approach zero as time increases.

NARITA.

That's not a humble brag on my part - it's a body slam to NRT.  Imagine the worst aspects of ORD+JFK+LGA+MIA+LAX+DFW without any of the good stuff but extra grubbiness.
