A Busy Morning

Wrapping up yesterday first.   I wanted more braised pork.

(Clockwise from left)
Soft tofu,
Duck foot,
Various muscle cuts e.g., belly, butt,
Intestines,
Egg

Tofu was meh. Meats were amazing. Egg very good.  Guts were surprisingly tasty.  Talon....well, no.  RM 18 with drink (3 Sour.)  See https://www.vagabondjim.com/2024/09/a-running-thread-others-videos-about.html for somebody else's video of the whole menu here.

A quick run to the ATM to start the day.  All told I have spent less than RM 2,000 in cash since arriving in Malaysia - 23 days.   Almost all of that is food, drink, and other consumables.  That burn rate is reasonable and easy to maintain.  Especially as I shift from restaurants to hawker stalls.  A tourist's laksa costs RM 15-20.  A local's RM 6-10.  And, frankly, it is safer and far tastier.

I was going to need a bit more today.  Today was more of the S-MM2H legwork.  A physical and photos.

Jonathon* picked me up at the hotel and whisked me off to the Borneo Medical Center, a private hospital.  He'd called a head with all my information.**

We waited a few minutes and I chatted with an MD for less.  I said "No" when asked about having had heart attacks, strokes, cancer, etc.  3 minutes.  Ummm, no BP, no pulse, no temp, and alas, no weighing.  I want to know what I currently weigh, damnit.  Let's just say this was a great example of a "pro forma" physical.

2 vials of blood, a urine sample, a chest X-Ray, RM 256, and I was done.  The X-Ray is to check for TB.  We all know morbid obesity kills more of us than TB

(Did you know that to become a US Citizen you cannot have had syphilis without an MD's letter saying you were successfully treated.  A blood test, specifically for syphilis by name, is required as part of the application.)

Then off to the photography store for a dozen glamour shots, I mean passport photos.   RM 32

A good morning.

And topped off with Kolo Mee from a hawker:
Best yet.  RM6
3 Sour RM4

Yeah, you can't spend $2.50 that well in the States!

Moving here is so easy that even a control boom victim could do it!

* If you are familiar with Dr. Glaucomenflecken's videos, you know how valuable "a Jonathon" is.  The  authorized agent helping me through this happens to share that name.  He's incredibly helpful, valuable, and useful.  He's earning his pay.  I've been talkative.

** See!
