With apologies to Rosanne Cash, and her terrific album Rules for Travel,
here are my thoughts
- The three big rules:
- Be Generous!
- Look to be Happy!
- Search out opportunities to do Good!
- Two days, that's it. To burden friends for more is to risk being
eligible for the oft quoted apocryphal (although frequently attributed to Ben
Franklin) saying: "After 3 days fish and house guests begin to stink."
- Robe and slippers.... must haves. Remember you're staying staying is
somebody else's home. Immodesty is inappropriate.
- "Please" and "Thank You" are even more appropriate on the road.
- Pull over and see something whenever you feel like it. This is all
about smelling the roses after all.
- Take pictures more often than you think, especially if they're digital.
Share them.
- Smile, smile, smile, you're not at the office or the in-law's.
